Rich not only in monetary value, but in its deep history, In fact the temple itself was built on the successions of kings that added to its wealth as each of their rules went by. Tirupati is a city in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

But Tirupati is no longer all about this one temple. Because really there are temples, yes like most of India there is more than one temple in this town. But Tirupati is interesting also for the hundreds of thousands even a million pilgrims each year. In fact this is one of the most ancient pilgrimages in the world. Apart from the various shrines there are some holy waterfalls sacred rivers and architectural wonders. The city of Tirupati is also famous for its red wooden toys, copper and brass idols.

One of the best times to visit the town of Tirupati would be during one of its many festivals. The town celebrates most Vaishnava festivals with a splendour and fervour that would be hard to match.

Brahmotsavam is celebrated every year during September and is arguably the most important festival in Tirumala which is within Tirupati. It receives millions of devotees in an extremely short span of time, just one week.

Tirupati has a history that is very interesting, it is the place where the Telugu and the Tamil met and mixed into a single culture over time. As such Telugu is the official language of the area but Tamil is understood. English is understood by and large due to it being taught within the education system. Tirupati is honing its education system and is becoming an education and business hub due to restructured infrastructures.

Asides from religious sites there are some excursions around Tirupati that take you to some really beautiful picnic spots. One such trip takes you to Chandragiri where there is a fort that dates back to the 11th century.

When someone is travelling with children all the educational sites like temples can get to meld into one another until you cannot differentiate one from the next. Tirupati has a brilliant zoological park, the second of its kind in Andhra Pradesh, Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park has many species of animals and plants which are endangered or are being conserved. Nearly 10 to 15 tigers are present in this zoo making it an absolute must for lovers of large cats, tigers or on a day out with the kids.

One of the best natural wonders around Tirupati is the natural arch found 1km out from the Tirumala hills temple it is one of only a few found on the Asian continent. The arch measures 8 m in width and 3 m in height, and is naturally formed from natural erosive forces which makes this arch truly remarkable.
